Day 5 - Nice potatoes

Street stall selling charcoal heated sweet potatoe all at one yuan each!! yummy...Had to have 6 of it!

Me outside the PT/expo Comm , beijing international exhibition center.
Day 4 - Tasty Beijing Duck!

finally got my chance to walk ard the expo. Geee the quality of the models here are good not sure if they are from japan or from china..hhmm Seems like the in thing for expo here is have models to play classical instruments like violin...if a guy is playing..it wont draw any crowd hahaa

Exhibition day was cut short , due to the arrival of nation leader (guo jia ling xiu). Seems like he could not make it at night thus everyone has to leave the place at 3pm. Exception to only about couple of exhibition.

with over 20 million population in beijing alone. What could be worst then waiting for a cab? especially after the exhibition? almost wanted to give up after 40 mins waiting. Then out of the blue a small car..not resembling any cabs we see on the road ask us if where we are going. Yes its the Black car (hei che) to the rescue. These are the unlicense taxi drivers . Point to note you have to bargain the price before taking off. Else you might get rip off.

Later at night, Me and boss decide to have a taste of that famous beijing duck. So down we went to da tung roasted duck restuarant. We had like 3 dish of veg / fish and that beijing duck was served by a chief who cut and skined the duck right infront of us. There are like 6 sort of condiments that we have to roll it ourself. The duck was great. skin was crisp and almost melt in my mouth. the meat was soft and tender.

Later we went down to a supermarket next to the Bai nuo complex (a computer complex which was kinda late so it wasnt open). The supermarket is huge with lotsa variety of food stuff ...bought some pistachio and beers ...

notice that in beijing almost all entrance are rotating doors type..wonder why..i get a headache just goin thru them

Okay gotta go...till next time

Floating grape juice! ..and i mean stop motion!!

Sim lim square of beijing...bai nao center.

and lastly the desert!

but wait i need to do my homework first...roll the duck meat !

Diced and minced ready for my mouth

Tat is my beijing duck!! at the famous da tung roast duck restuarant!!

a slider mobile phone from mitshubishi..so kawaii

A protoype phone from panasonic...hmm so compact case looking..wont be caught dead with this

From PT Comm expo, a LG model showing off a new mobile phone..hmm which is nicer? your pick

Day 3 - Business Alliance

Some stuff that i discovered today, was that why some cars have no license plate. That is because these are new cars waiting for their license.

Went down to carefourre today. And it does resemble our own carefourre here in singapore.

While in china i already saw 3 public argument happening here. Very heated and almost violent ones. I guess a fraction of chinese people are pretty much have low torrence level.

After the exhibition we had our meal at KFC before heading down to TGIF for a drink with the singapore business communitee based in Beijing. Sharing business knowleadge , horror stories or fun places to visit.
Did you know that when your cheers with chinese friends..you will need to finish the whole glass? did you know for every dinner there is a host and a main guest? Theres a very strong drink known as "hu tu" or clumsy 50-60 percent alchol

Back in the hotel my colleague showed me a tiny looking cucumber. And he said its matured cucumber just a different breed thats all. He also showed me another strange looking fruit.. its called winter dates . Its kinda hard like apple. And taste slightly sweet and a frangrant odour.

Thats wrap up day 3.

Typical KFC meal...and there isnt any 2 piece meal...! that yellow stuff is the corn on cob!

Deep blue...rarely seen in beijing...

Looks like railway tracks

Crossing over the bridge

Shadows of the setting sun...At 4 pm

Over head pedestrain bridge..no steps included!

Shoeshine machine! free to use..only at frienship hotel!

Curious all building have fire extinguisher on the floor..Anit the people gonna trip on them?

DAY 2 - Beijing cold

Yes , Day 2 of Beijing is cold.. i can see vapour coming out from my mouth! and it plus the drizzle it really makes it worst!

Had my lunch at with SUN Microsystem ODM personel at Hou Hai (back sea) but really its a lake.

Would like to say more but... i feel zzzzz...

Day 1 - Beijing
Touch down at beijing Airport 6am in the morning, stepping out from the airport you can literally cant breath due to the air pollution.sky is also grey...dang got into a black cab..it turns out that its the most expensive cab ard ..the bill came up to 160 RMB... thats abt 30 SGD..So lesson one is never to take a black cab but a red one which is much cheaper.

My hotel is comfort inn hotel a 5 star hotel most of the amenities are there.. but the pool and the gym you need to pay. Comforting thou is that there is free broadband access!! yup. (notice that blogspot.com is blocked due to china gov crackdown on freedom of speech) .

While waiting for my colleague to arrive i went to the shopping mall next door...have my lunch at the food court and went down to the al-fresco starbucks... foreign franchise is rampant here in china. I bet the open door policy is speeding up the development and influx of these foreign investment.

Later at night we had our dinner at a famous sichuan resturant ...lotsa dishes i have never eaten before..was so bloated i almost cant move...

think i gotta end now...getting sleepy!

Nope its not an alien egg...but a sesame desert...nice and big!!

The famous sichuan shui zhu yu.. or fish cook in water.. but really its steam fish in frangrant spicy oil.... very nice actually..(rumored to be recycled oil from previous dishes)

Untitled

Hmm couple of things happened today .. Went for the dance performance by a group called ecad project at the esplanade with a few friends.

IN THE NAME OF DANCE by Ecnad Project
In the name of dance, people from different walks of life discover themselves, other people and what it means to be human. The various professions of the dancers offer artistic potential by providing material from real-life experiences and characters.

Seems abstract..and very loud as in the director was behind us screaming!! "hair! hair!" kinda irritating if you ask me!

Had a cholcolate break at the shop called max brenner .. very sinful indeed...think italian cholcolate drink and suckao (nope you dun have to inhale...but suck from the straw looking spoon)
Anyhow i also notice at the esplanade there was a concert by "emi fujita" , Which i only got to know her songs at the BBQ lastnite...she has that sweet lulluby songing voice!! hmmm lovely but too bad tickets are all sold out! better luck next time...still can listen from my PC

When down with my friend to this shop mobilesquare to look at bluetooth headset! and gee the new HBH 650 is out!...couldnt control myself...and got my self one (guys are implusive at buying stuff i am one fine example) my friends wife got one too!! hehee

Really cool you can see the caller number flashing on the headset. now i can keep my phone in the pocket period!

Great chocolate tasting and sinful chocolate treat!

The new and yet unreleased HBH650

BBQ at Costa Sand

So i was at east coast for a BBQ, took my new shoe for a spin while i was there too... Seems like roller blading is the in thing..and not much people jog...Is roller blading burns more calories then jogging or is it because its faster and require less energy?... hmm

At 7ish the BBQ starts and boy we were treated with nice music courtesy of our host diaz with his new altec lansing THX sound system with 20,000 songs to choose from his ipod ! Took turn to spin the wheel.. rockz!
